    By Train

Although there is a train station in Calitri, rail service in Southern Italy is usually very slow!  If you will be travelling by train, we suggest arriving into Naples or Salerno and then taking the bus from the Naples Train Station to Calitri.  You can also take the train to Avellino station.  Please click Here for train information throughout Italy.

    By Bus

Bus travel is the most popular form of pubilc transportation in the area.

You can easily reach Calitri by bus from the Naples Central Train Station, Naples Capodichino Airport, Rome Tiburtina Train (and Subway/Metro blue line “B” )Station, and Salerno Train Station.  You will need to change busses at Avellino (Piazza Kennedy is the main bus stop in Avellino) from all departure points.

    From Naples Capodichino Airport-Avellino

Exit the airport and walk down the main road until you see a large crossing (Tangenziale crossing) and a green gate (there is a car dealership).  Look for the bus sign for the A.IR bus company. Buses run every hour from 8:00-21:00.

You can check for exact times on the A.IR website.

    • Select Percorsi e Orari
    • Select Partenze da Napoli per Avellino
    • The hours that are underlined are the times for the buses at Naples Airport.
    • The hours that are NOT underlined are the times for the buses at Naples Central Train Station.
    From the Naples Train Station

Exit the station and look for a kiosk on your Right (near the street) where you can buy a ticket to Avellino – 3.20Euro

The bus will be A.IR Trans (usually blue – single or double decker) and is usually the 1st or 2nd bus in line (but always ask the driver “Avellino?” just to be sure!)

Note: The 4:45pm  is the last A.IR bus you can catch in order to reach Avellino in time for the 6:20pm bus to Calitri.  (Naples to Avellino takes a little over an hour)

OR, you can also take a Marozzi Bus to Avellino from the Naples Central Train Station.

From the Rome Tiburtina Train Station

Take the Marozzi Bus OR A.IR Bus to Avellino. (The trip should take about 3hours, 20 minutes by bus)

From Salerno Train (and Bus) Station

Take the S.I.T.A. Bus from the main bus stop outside the train station.  There are frequent departures from Salerno to Avellino (at least one an hour); the journey takes a little over and hour by bus.

    AVELLINO – CALITRI

Once you reach Avellino, DiMaio is the bus you will take from Avellino to Calitri. Purchase your ticket (3.98Euro) from the driver.  The DiMaio bus sits in the back row and there is a park behind it.

The DiMaio bus schedule From Avellino is as follows:

    Avellino Departure: Calitri Arrival:

    06.30 08.05

    12.00 13.37

    14.15 15.45

    18.20 19.50

    19.30 21.00

The bus that is highlighted in bold is the only bus that runs on Sunday. The bus makes stops along the way at Lioni, B.Morra, and Conza. Please note: the A.IR & DiMaio buses do not run on Easter, Christmas, and on New Year’s. In addition, in August and during school holidays the Saturday timetable applies daily.
